I am running 5-week wine courses in early 2025, comprising of 5 modules. Absorb interesting facts and expert knowledge while tasting wines relevant to the subject. This course is for beginners to experts alike, as knowledge is for everyone. Take away some fun facts you never knew, and enjoy sharing them with others and have some fun too!

  • This will be looking at grapes across the world, whether indigenous or international grape varieties – we will look at organic, biodynamic, orange, pink & natural wines. We will explore viticulture – the vineyard is such an important part of the wine process and discuss the soil and history of the terroir – which has a huge impact on the end wine. We'll also look at grapes that are heat resistant and that are being cultivated more due to climate change.

  • There are various ways that a wine can be aged – we will taste wine that has been aged in stainless steel, lees contact, amphora, varying oaks and cement amongst many others. What is the difference between a young wine and an aged wine? How can you tell? We will look at the winemaking process… Different microclimates also create different styles of wine from the Terraces of the Northern Rhone to the fertile valley floors of Australia…

  • What is the difference between these worlds? With the world heating up – is there still a significant difference? We will try 3 wines blind to really look at the differences – and will compare grapes, wines and concepts across these worlds.

  • The spectrum of wine is from light to heavy – its fruit, tannin and acidity that make up the profile of a wine. We will also look at sweet wine affected by botrytis to Ripasso and Ice Wine methods. What do you need to know about tasting a wine – how to taste and what to look out for corked wine and other defects. Thinking wines and drinking wines – wines for all occasions.
